The Haqqani Network is a militant, non-governmental, family-run organization from South-Asia and is one of the reasons for the United States’ and Pakistan’s failing relationship. The Haqqani network is one of the most feared terrorist organisations for their affiliations with Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, two of the most well- known terrorist groups. This group uses fear to intimidate and persuade the public to accept their ideologies through mass suicide bombings, kidnappings, car and infrastructure bombings. Afghanistan directly translates to “Land of the Afghans”. Afghanistan is mostly a tribal and rural society. The United States had worked for 10years to introduce democratic and legal reforms in Afghanistan, focusing on women’s rights. Western powers are no longer allowed to impose their culture, even though that the western society is not allowed to invade a country to spread their culture they have done so regardless to this. Therefore they are not allowed to tell Afghanistan what customs they can and cannot keep. Even with these laws America has invaded and started wars against Afghanistan initially to rid it of terrorism but later to convert it into Democratic governance. The initial goal when the war was initiated in 2001 was to remove the Taliban from a position of power. Westernisation can change the politics, religious belief, philosophy, law, language and the adoption of the western lifestyle of a country. With the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, journalists tried to convince the public that they were going to free Afghan women from the oppression they were facing. But the history of Afghanistan makes it clear that they do not need any support or western influence from Western societies.
