The culture of Afghanistan is a unique one but shares many of the Middle Eastern and Asian cultural traditions. The culture of Afghanistan is unique to the country itself but has bits and pieces of other countries cultures. The nation itself been through alot of empires and been ruled by big empires like the mongolian empire and persian empire. Farah keeps her culture as she goes to America and she begins to slip away she thinks it is good to keep what you have of yourself. “ But time passed, and I began to think about it . I realized that it’s good to remember my own customs and traditions. It's good to hold on to my own religion and faith.” Farah keeps her religion and customs . She thinks it is a good to keep them because even if you don’t like it is a part of you and you can’t change that. Most families in Afghanistan hope to have a son not a daughter. Girls assist their, others with chores and household work. Boys assist their fathers with family business after the come back from school. Poor families have to the sons work together to support the family. The language is also very different , and It is taught differently in America. 32 languages are spoken in afghanistan. Dari is spoken the most amongst the people. Pashtun is spoken by the Pashtun people and has 2 major sub-languages and dialects. Dari and Pashtun are the national language and the people of Afghanistan speak both. Dari is more common , Pashto is the language in which the national anthem is sung in. But depending on the area the more popular language is spoken and taught in.
