There are several differences to note between the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War and the Canadian involvement in the Afghanistan War. The first major difference is that The United States had conscription during the Vietnam war, which fueled massive antiwar protests, some even leading to the death of protesters. This was not true for the Canadian troops heading to Afghanistan, Canada has an all-volunteer armed force. Yes, there were some protests against Canada’s involvement in the Afghan War, but these were much smaller and more infrequent than anti-Vietnam protests. Students should be payed to attend school because it would create an incentive to work harder, it would help eliminate residential poverty, and help students become accustomed to working long weeks.
