Cancer is one of the scariest diagnoses to go through or experience with a close family member or friend. Henrietta Lacks a black woman in the 50’s was diagnosed with cervical cancer little did she know her doctors stole her cells for research and never spoke about it. In The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks you get to experience what the author. Rebecca Skloot goes through as she tries to figure out what happened with Henrietta Lack in the early 200’s Skloot gets in contact to get to know the situation better but the Lacks family knew little to none about Henrietta’s condition and the research that was being done to her revolutionary cells.
Imagine this, one of your family members has to go to an emergency room just for a bloody nose that bled a lot longer than one normally should, a lot longer. During the hospital visit the doctors come across cancer cells. You realize for the past week that family member has been complaining about how there body hurts and you realize how much of a fool you are for not catching on to them not feeling well. You would immediately start griefing about how that family member might die. During the story Drums ,Girls & Dangerous Pie Steven goes through the 5 stages of grief because of his brother, Jeffrey getting cancer.
In the US, cancer is the second major cause of death. Cancer is the uncontrolled division of somatic cells caused by defective cancer cells. Usually, when cells divide, they begin to form a layer. Normal cells will experience contact inhibition, where cells can cease to replicate once there is no more space for it to inhabit. However, cancer cells cannot control their division.
Having a family member who has cancer can be vigorous on anyone, but it can be especially unyielding on a person who has been ignoring that family member for an entire summer. In the book The Last Song, Ronnie finds out her dad is dying of stomach cancer. Her dad getting sick reminds her of how she regarded him all summer long and begins to get down on herself. Ronnie also starts to shut people out in grief, including Will. In 2012 there were an estimated 13,776,251 people living with cancer in the United States alone (Cancer of All Sites).
In this assignment, I am going to be focusing on a teenager who has a terminally ill parent and how they would cope within the situation and what key issues you need to focus on in order to make the transition/change a success. The age group I am focusing on would be 16 – 18year old's. This is going to be a very difficult time in the teenager’s life so it is important that the correct support and planning is put in place to help make this experience easier. There are many key issues that you need to focus on when it comes to a young adult dealing with a close bereavement such as a parent, however there are going to be two key issues that I am going to be focusing on and that will be planning and the overall effect it has on the young person. I think this is important because " every year around 0.3% of all families with children under the age of 18years encounter parental cancer, and 3.1% of minors and 8.4% of young adults have a parent that has been diagnosed with cancer" (ncbi.gov, 2012)
Human beings experience many things within their lifetime. Many of those experiences involves the creation of emotional relationships through interactions of other people. these emotions we feel are what makes us human. when we start to build these relationships an attachment grows, through these relations it often molds human beings to learn how to interact and care for one another. So when a death happens to a close relation, the process of mourning submits a transformation to a person.
Illness as Metaphor Illness at a Metaphor by Susan Sontag discusses how metaphors complicate diseases or syndromes of multiple or unknown causes. Sontag says that the most truthful way to describe illnesses is without any influence of metaphors, to keep it as pure and scientific as possible (Sontag 3). However, metaphors are a part of everyday life and it is nearly impossible to escape the use of metaphors to describe illnesses.

Cancer is a disease that often times is not noticed until very late when it is already terminal. This was the case with Nancy Johnson, she noticed a small lump on her right thigh that refused to go away. This poses the question, how can a cell transmogrify into this awful, malignant tumor whose only goal is to grow and infect the surrounding cells or other parts of the body. Especially in older women the chances of getting cancer as they endure more menstrual cycles, opening the possibility for cells to malfunction and form into cancer cells. Because it is difficult for individuals who have cancer to determine what is wrong with them, as you age they begin to give tests every few years to test and see if you have any cancerous growths.
The topic was given to me was “How does plagiarism affect the Medical Field?” Plagiarism is an illegal process in the Medical field. It can put you in jail for many years and mostly you may killed a patient by giving out the wrong prescription or the wrong information. The good medical writing should be clear, concise and an honestly idea. Medical people don’t want thief and kidnapers in the field, because they may cause trouble or something worse for the patient’s life.

This unit I researched and learned about immigration, I was influenced a lot during my research. I have learned about how immigrants can become citizens legally and the struggles of immigrants that take the illegal path. After researching about this project I found myself to be more informed, I have talked to my parents, siblings, and friends about it more than I would’ve before. I never knew what immigration reform was before. I knew I was strongly opinionated about immigration before
