Capital Punishment
One of the world’s largest, well-known, generic rule is that murder is wrong. Murder is not by any means morally questionable as it flouts the Universal Human Rights and the Bill of Rights. Capital punishment, which is the ‘legal’ killing of people by the government, also does violate these set of laws. But then, why is it that the world has not yet abolished capital punishment? There are over 20 countries that have legalized capital punishment, or in simple words, 20 countries have been carried away by utmost hypocrisy. These countries need to change as capital punishment may kill innocent people, is not ethical, and there is a better alternative.

Jed Rakoff, US Distrit judge in the Southern District of New York mentions, “Innocent persons are convicted of capital crimes… by cutting off the opportunity for exoneration, denies due process and, indeed, is tantamount to foreseeable…” Many capital punishments are processed in a relatively fast manner that does not allow the accused to prove innocent. This violates the Fifth Amendment which rules that accused people should be given a due process of law.
Humans are, indeed, never perfect. We are condemned to always make errors, but when talking about life and death, it is no longer errors, but murder. For a government to concede death penalties to its citizens is the same to murder its own people. No one deserves to die. When the government metes out vengeance disguised as justice, it becomes complicit with killers in devaluing human life and human dignity. In civilized society, we reject the principle of literally doing to criminals what they do to their victims: The penalty for rape cannot be rape, or for arson, the burning down of the arsonist's house. We should not, therefore, punish the murderer with death... Capital punishment is a barbaric remnant of uncivilized society." No fellow human beings are to be judged of being worthy or not for life.
