“I support the death penalty because I believe, if administered swiftly and justly, capital punishment is a deterrent against future violence and will save other innocent lives" (Bush). George W. Bush is trying to emphasize the importance of the Death Penalty because it contributes to many factors in society. The Death Penalty is an action that is taken upon by the Government, which legally terminates the life of a convict due to his heinous crimes. There are many groups and individuals who have different views on the Death Penalty, although, it creates a huge impact towards the ones affected by the case. Those individuals who are against the punishment don’t realize how crucial the crimes that convicts commit and the amount of damage they have caused. While many individuals have negative opinions towards the Death Penalty, however, it leads to a positive effect towards society because of retribution for the victims, cost-effectiveness, and deters crime. Retribution is an emotion that most victims encounter towards a criminal act and use the Death Penalty as a form of vengeance. In 2014, Jeff Ferguson, a killer who murdered a girl named Kelli Hall, was executed and Kelly's father commented, “it conveyed such genuine remorse for the pain he had cause for both my family and is because of his horrible actions”(New Voices - Victims' …show more content…
