The military is a big commitment by both you and the military. In the United States Army, military bearing is the reason why every service member practices this so they can take orders to carry out good discipline and ethics throughout their military service. Army regulations and The Articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice show us how a military service member should conduct themselves on a daily basis. All soldiers have an obligation to conduct themselves like they are adults and to show respect to the ranks above them.
Upton Sinclair wrote the novel “The Jungle” in 1906. The novel was written about what was going on in the meatpacking industry. What happened was Upton Sinclair went undercover in the meatpacking industry because he was curious about what goes on with the meat that he eats. In document 3 it was a chapter of his book and it told the reader that if the meat was sour that would rub soda in the meat and then give it to the counters as a free lunch. The meat was stored in piles in a room.
“The Jungle” was horrifying to many Americans, because they had not been aware of what was going on. After the book was published, many laws were put in place and many changes were made to the working conditions of these factories. In 1906, after the release of “The Jungle”, the Food and Drug Act was passed. The Food and Drug Act created many laws that ensured the food we were consuming was safe to eat. If Upton Sinclair hadn’t fought for what he thought was right, our food may have still been made under unhealthy conditions.
During the 1900’s working conditions were undeniably horrible. In Packingtown everyday got more difficult as the days went on. In the meat packing business things were supposed to be done quick. Inside the factories packing, chopping, inspecting and people actions didn’t mix. Not only did the people in the factories suffered, the people outside of the factory also suffered.
Upton Sinclair was born in late September of 1878 in Baltimore, Maryland. His family relocated to New York City when he was ten years old. At the age of twenty, after completing his schooling, he decided to become a serious novelist. In 1904 Sinclair was sent to Chicago to write an exposé on the mistreatment of workers in the meatpacking industry.

The other cap was a baseball style cap and just had an olive green colour like the rest of the uniform. The uniform that Forrest and the other soldiers wear in the move are pretty much the same, except for the fact that these uniforms do not say “U.S ARMY”.
