For the cardiovascular step test, the class broke up into groups of four. Each member was given a specific role within the group. One person represented the Active participant, or Treatment #1. Treatment #2 represented the person who was non active. One person in the group controlled the stop watch at 3 minutes, while another recorded the results after that time frame. For the step test, the heart rate of both participants served as the dependent variable, whereas, the independent variable was the level of training. During the experiment, the group performed 4 replications. Both participants for treatment #1 and #2 took their pulse rates prior to the test and recorded the results.
