Eating Disorder Stories Carolyn Radnor’s Story: When Carolyn was a child she was obsessed with eating. Carolyn was in dance, and gymnastics. Eventually she got sick of her weight, and started to eat healthy and exercise more. She started losing weight, and dropping sizes. She was liking her results, and she was still very healthy. The summer before eighth grade Carolyn quit school cheer and joined competitive cheer. But then freshman year of high school she started to put the weight back on. She was falling back into her old habits and eating extremely unhealthy again. When the next season of cheer was coming up she realized that her uniform was not fitting anymore. When she was a freshman in high school is when her eating disorder really started, and she would just hardly eat anything, she wouldn’t really drink anything either. Her parents suggested that she went to a therapist, so she did, and that really helped her. She has OCD, and she say that she has a hard time dealing with that, and that her OCD can sometimes tie into her eating disorder. So her therapist really helped her with that. She went through therapy and treatment all throughout her freshman year of high school, she returned to school her sophomore year, but she went to a different school.Emily loved her second school way more and did really good until the spring of her senior year, she relapsed. She struggled a lot with anxiety and depression the second time, way more than she did her first time. She stopped seeing her therapist, she started drinking, and not eating anything at all, she wanted to get done with school as fast as possible. Since Emily was now in college when her relapse really started taking place, she didn’t have any family near her, she was going to an out of state college, and she didn’t have any friends at the time either. So nobody except her doctor, and therapist could really help her. At one point she was having suicidal thoughts, so she called her therapist, and her therapist told her to go to the er. So Emily went to the er, and once she got settled in the er she decided to call her parents. As soon as she called her parents she fell asleep, but when she woke up her dad was right there by her side. She said she was so glad to see her dad there, and that was one of the best things that happened to her while she had her eating disorder. While she was in the hospital she went on a feeding tube, and she said that it was the most painful thing she has ever gone through. Once she finally got out of the hospital she went right into a treatment plan. She went through 2 months of treatment and
