Britany Quinn, member of the Coast Salish Nation will be facilitating a discussion and craft making activity (Indigenous Tourism BC). This session will focus on the various kinds of crafts made by indigenous peoples such as basket weaving and the fabrication of jewelry, clothing and dream catchers. After a brief lesson the class will move into the interactive portion of the session, in which the students will fabricate their own personal dream catcher. In “The Inheritance of Tools” Scott Russell Sanders recounts his memories of his deceased father. Because most of his memories of his father center on carpentry, Sanders talks frequently about the carpentry tools that were passed from Sanders’s grandfather, to Sanders’s father, to Sanders himself (par. 2). Throughout the essay, Sanders uses the passing down of carpentry tools from generation to generation to symbolize the passing down of tools for life: passions, knowledge, life lessons, memories, and values. With the tools comes the knowledge of how to use them and the passion to do so.

This was a time period where American society was altered and with it came a bright excitement, as is portrayed in Mabel Alvarez’s painting, “In The Garden.” On the subject of the 1920s, in this time, American society was transformed. Angels myth or reality? When it comes to religion this is a big debate. Now in the story “A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings” there was controversy about if the old man was a real angel or not. I for one believe that the old man is an angel because he made miracles happen and in the story there is also medical report on him. Work and school can be stressful, I tend to draw what the instructor is talking plus it’s the same way as taking notes but in drawing. I work night shift which means I am awake the whole night and if I have class, I am also awake half of the day.
