Crammed in one’s house for multiple months at a time, seeing only one’s immediate family day after day. One is tired of the continual routine and the same redundant scenery. Counting down the days until the next time where one could make the dangerous ride to one’s family's house hundreds of miles away. That was the dismal reality for many homesteaders before the late 1800’s. In 2016, families can hop in one’s car and drive safely hundreds of miles in several hours. This new way of life is due in fact to a man from Muehlberg, Germany, the creator of most used road vehicle; the automobile. Automobiles, though thought as a factor of global warming, have ultimately contributed to history, lifestyle, and travel experiences.

During the early years of the automobile, the automobile was able to rescue multitudes of African Americans and women from brutal treatings and hardships (The Greatest Invention). Due to the automobile many people were brought out of the unfair and cruel situations and given freedom the individuals had never known. Without the automobile life would not be the safe, many events such as the civil rights and many others wouldn’t have happened. The automobile has truly affected the history of cities and farms alike. “In addition, such institutions as regional schools and hospitals are now accessible by bus and car…. The automobile has radically changed city life by accelerating the outward expansion of population into the suburbs. (Brancheau).” Automobiles helped farmers and homesteaders to reach doctors those people couldn’t before. This lead to an impact on the history making the shorter life span increase to what it is like today. For those in the city, it allowed individuals to move to more inexpensive land for the individuals’ businesses. This ultimately lead to yet another influence on history; the expansion of road (ultimately leading to more travel) and to more business (creating a boost in economy).
