Drug Enforcement in the Latino Community There is a lot going on with the Latino Community when it comes to drugs. The Latinos are involved in every aspect of the drug culture. Not only have the Latinos done drugs, they have even smuggled drugs into every community they can get it into. Here in America they hand down punishments with hard penalties. The drug enforcement has been going on a drug war with the Latino community for as long as the states have been around. Drugs are a business for the Latino community. In one article, it says that 77 percent of Hispanics were overrepresented for the sentencing of marijuana (Nelson, Steven. Latinos Got). The Latino community is not only profiled because of the drugs, but are being targeted by ICE agents to figure out if they are using, selling, or importing drugs. In an article for New York it says that the Latino community is being targeted based on race to see if there is anything going on with drugs (Criminal Justice Reform). In a case study that was done in 2016, the states have arrested more Latinos for drug crimes than any other race. Today there are tons of drugs being brought in from Mexico to the US. Whether it be by land, sea, or underground, drugs are becoming a problem for the US. The Latino community is hit by this because they have either no option, or they are looking for a way to make a quick buck. Most Latino communities have gangs which in turn deal drugs. This being said Latino, communities are then influenced by the drug culture. In an article the government talks about putting up a wall, but authorities say that is not going to keep the drugs from coming into the US. They say instead they need more man power, and resources to combat the efforts of ongoing drug problems (Drug
