In the poem “Casey at the Bat” and Biblical scripture “David and Goliath” a series of comparisons and contrastable traits can be compared. Both Casey and David are proven to be very brave. In David and Goliath, David charged towards a mighty giant named Goliath (verse 48). Casey on the other hand, stood in front of a pitcher from the team that got them down to two outs with a tie on the scoreboard. This proves that David (a small boy) was brave enough to face a rampaging giant. This also proves that Casey was able to stand up and triumph for his team. Strangely and Coincidentally, both of these figures happen to be using lethal weapons. In David and Goliath, David uses a slingshot to defeat Goliath. But, Casey uses a baseball bat to attempt a home run. …show more content…

But, this does not mean they aren’t different. David uses the power of God where as Casey does not. Even though there is no technical way to prove this, (because this part isn’t in the passage) David said that God gave him the strength and bravery to defeat Goliath. This means that David was not technically alone when he fought Goliath. But, the best part was that his partner was the strongest existing force there is. But that’s not all, Casey was overconfident. In the passage Casey at the bat, Casey thought he was too good for the first pitch. Secondly, after his failure the crowd and his team were very disappointed. This proves that even the strongest and/or biggest thing on earth shouldn’t doubt their challenges. Wait, there’s more. Casey strikes out were as David doesn’t. In the passage, Casey got overconfident and struck out. But, david believed in God the father and pulled through with a win for the Israelites. This means that though Casey failed, David still pulled through. In conclusion, it turns out that David and Casey are very similar yet, very different. One was with God and victory, whereas the other was with overconfidence and
