Instead of letting Star's rejection and Danny's sick joke crush him, Wes depended on his complete and utter rage to guide him. He focused all his energy on trying to figure out on how Danny had pulled off the fake date, because he clearly hadn't overshadowed her. He eventually theorized it was the work of another ghost because of the red eyes... those unfamiliar eyes he should have recognized as an impostor's, but he was too desperate to see the truth. Nevertheless, despite it having been a different ghost, the entire scheme had Danny written all over it; he was not getting off scot-free.
