Here is a little bit about the powerful Caterpillar equipment. Caterpillar equipment is the oldest heavy duty equipment manufacturer in the United States. Their machinery is used in everything from constructing skyscrapers to farming to delivering loads to your local grocery store. This paper will be about the history about Cat machinery and the great things they manufacture.

This is a little about the history of Cat equipment. The company Caterpillar was founded by Benjamin Holt in 1886. At the time Cat was known as Holt manufacturing company. He started the company in Stockton, California. In that same year he was watching one of the steam powered tractors that he built and said it looked like a caterpillar. In the beginning of the war, Cat signed a contract that would have the company supply all of the heavy equipment for the United States during the war. Some of the uses for equipment was for building roads, and a few military bases in the war were also built with Cat equipment.

In 1925, Holt Manufacturing Company and C.L. Best Tractor Co. merged to form Caterpillar Tractor Company. They got the name Caterpillar from when Benjamin Holt was watching one of his tractors that he had said looked like a caterpillar when it was moving. From thereon both companies were known as Caterpillar. Then three years after both well-known companies merge, Caterpillar Tractor Company purchases the Russell Grader Manufacturing Company.
