The Civil War was caused by Slavery these are some of the little pushes that eventually pushed the south to secede, Uncle Tom’s cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe giving the Union an Insight on what happens in the south, the Underground Railroad helped the Slaves escape; the North helped the escape, and the Missouri Compromise making every state below Uncle Tom’s cabin by Harriet Becher Stowe was a real eye opener for the north. They didn’t know want truly happened in the south’s plantations. The south denied it and said it was propaganda. Harriet Tubman was a leading character in helping slaves escape, by the Railroad. The Railroad is basically a lot of homes leading north being connected. The South wanted the North to help catch the escaped slaves, but because of all “propaganda” the North’s residents didn’t respond well to their request. Some slave catchers got tarred and feathered. The Missouri Compromise was a pretty big fight in congress. Missouri wanted to become a state, but then it would make the balance of free to slave states unequal, so they added Maine to the free while Missouri to the slave. While the states were being accepted an amendment that banned slavery in the Louisiana Purchase north of 36°30−N lat. Allowed slavery under that line. The south saw this as an attack at their way of life, since it banned slavery.
