Most people don't know for sure why the American Civil War came to be. However, one theory that repeatedly comes up is the issue of slavery and whether it was just or wrong in America the land of the freedom throughout history and discussions. Charles B. Dew the author of, Apostles of Disunion: Southern Secession Commissioners and The Cause of The Civil War, claims to be a southerner himself and explains his thoughts and education growing up in the south. In his youth, he was taught by his family that the reason the South went to war was to fight for their State’s rights, but as an adult, he explains that it may not have been the only reason they fought after researching for himself.
The Civil War was a battle of great importance to our history of the United States. On April 12th, 1861 this battle broke out between the Union States, North, and the Confederate States, such as the South. The Civil War took place all throughout the United states, and did not come to an end until the Union won the war on May 9, 1856. So, our question of “What caused the Civil War”, comes with three important answers. Nick Baxter What caused the Civil War? DBQ The Civil War was caused by three main reasons are economic differences, interpretation of Constitution, and moral beliefs. The North and the South were very different economically.
The Southern and Northern states differentiate on many issues, which ultimately led them towards a Civil War. There stood deep social, economic, and political disparities between the North and the South. These modifications stemmed from the understanding of the United States Constitution on both sides. In the end, most of these disputes about the rights of states directed to the Civil War. There existed reasons other than slavery on behalf of the South 's breakaway.
American Civil War: Their were many issues from the American Civil War that helped to create a union. One of the issues was slavery. People in the South wanted to support slavery ,but people in the North thought slavery was wrong and wanted to end it. Another reason on why slavery was such a big issue during the American Civil War was because more states were becoming slave states. Since more states are joining slavery, this will upset the balance of slave states and free states.
After the efforts to gain independence from Britain and the creation of the United States of America, eighty years later this union was not so united. When the Civil War broke out in 1861, it was the first time that Americans fought Americans. Among many reasons, the Civil War is known to be a result of the arguments over the delineation of the States’ Rights or the presidential election of Abraham Lincoln. In actuality, the Civil War, the most deadly war in American history, was due to disputes over slavery in the American territories. Therefore, the Civil War was inevitable because of the consequences that occurred one being slavery.
Many events led up to the Civil War, most, in my opinion fall around slavery. Slavery was a controversial topic that divided a nation, and brought war. The south felt like their rights were being attacked, and then the north was angered by the government's reaction to slavery, with their multiple compromises. These two conflicts only brought more problems, and war soon followed.
The Civil War was necessary to resolve the escalating tensions between Northerners and Southerners regarding slavery. To Southerners, slavery was essential to their agricultural economy and way of life. The North was industrialized and did not need slavery to support their economy. Since the regions had different views on slavery, compromises and fighting occurred to try to solve the issues which slavery brought up. Tensions over slavery began to grow when the country started expanding West because the North and the South wanted their personal beliefs to be spread West.
The Civil war started because of some HUGE reasons that I will explain. Abraham Lincoln was the president of the North at the time. Most say he fought them because they had slaves. Well let me put it in terms you will understand. “HE LIED”.
Two main causes of the Civil War was slavery and compromises as slavery divided the country’s point of view and the compromises escalated people anger. The nation has always had tension about its division on slavery. Different points of views were meant to lead to the Civil War one way or another. From the beginning when Thomas Jefferson purchased the Louisiana Territory from Napoleon in 1803, it not only encouraged westward expansion but furthered divided the country’s issues with slavery. The problem was separation and trying to place everyone.
There are many causes of the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln believed the that the main cause of the war was slavery (Guelzo). Slavery existed in the South of the United States.
Scholars have debated this subject for years, but only three causes come out on top: slavery, states’ rights, and the Dred Scott case (“Causes of the Civil War”). By studying these three key causes, one may find a deeper understanding of arguably the most famous war in US history, the Civil War. One of the most obvious reasons for the Civil War was slavery. Although both the North and the South had slaves, they did not agree about the future of slavery (Sloan). While the North foresaw an end to slavery, the South did not (“Causes of the Civil War”).
There were three main causes of the civil war including slavery, sectionalism and secession. Slavery was a huge part of it and it led to the Missouri Compromise where any states below the border would be slave states and the anything north of that was free states. (Mrs. Wise) "The south feared the declaration of freedom for the slaves by government leaders in the North." Next, sectionalism. Sectionalism-
One of the several factors that helped cause the Civil War was the economy at the time. While the economy wasn’t in bad shape, the North and South were different and had very different views and ideas about their futures. The Northern area couldn 't have huge farms like the South. However, they were very diverse in the items they wanted to produce.
