Donald Gaskins Jr was born in Florence County, South Carolina on March 13, 1933. Gaskins’ mother Eulea Parrott, was not married and always had a series of men in and out of the house during the early years of Gaskins childhood. Gaskins would cause trouble at a young age and his mother’s boyfriends and brothers would be the ones discipline him. He was also very small for his age and wound up with the nickname Pee Wee. Being the smaller kid at school he was often picked on by the bigger kids. Everywhere Pee Wee went he was being physically abused whether it was at home or at school. Pee Wee dropped out of school at age eleven because of all the abuse at school. Pee Wee and two of his friends decided to state a gang called the Trouble Trio. He began working on a tobacco farm. While working on the tobacco farm he came up with an idea to steal the farmer’s tobacco and sell it for himself. To cover up the crime he burnt down the barn to make everybody believe the tobacco was still inside. Shortly after this incident a girl teased Pee Wee about how small she was and mentioned something about him burning down the barn. Pee Wee had a short fuse when it came to hit temper. He grabbed a hammer and beat the girl in the head with it. Pee Wee was charged with attempted murder and arson for the barn fire.
Pee Wee was charged with a six year sentence in the South Carolina State Penitentiary. When he arrived at prison Pee Wee was once again chosen as a sex partner because of his small body structure. He decided he could not take it anymore and slit the throat of a man named Hazell Brazell. Brazell was considered the power man of the jail. The power man was known to be the most feared and ruthless guy in prison. By Pee Wee slitting his throat he took on the role of the power man in addition to three years on his sentence.
