The purpose of this investigation is to find out if the STEM crisis is just a myth or not, if not, my aim is to find out what is the cause of such a drastic shortage in the study fields included STEM (science, technology, services, arts, agriculture) .The STEM crisis is considered to be one of the most important issues America’s education systems and economy is facing and seems to be getting worse over the years. However, there some who call the shortage of STEM graduates and professionals a myth. Originated from the National Postdoctoral Association's, the myIDP skills assessment has seven categories: scientific knowledge, research skills, communication, leadership and management, professionalism, responsible conduct of research, and career development.

To succeed in any discipline you need to know the content. Scientist describes this as knowing both the detailed as well as the basic knowledge of science.
