Life is suffering. However, some suffer more than others. In the case of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the character of Juliet by far suffers the most. In the play, Romeo kills Tybalt and this causes unrest with Juliet. Juliet also had the misfortune of waking up to her lover, Romeo, lying dead next to her, after waking up from her slumber. These two reasons both contribute to the fact that Juliet was tormented far more than Romeo because she had to deal with the death of a family member and finding the one she loved dead upon her lap. Juliet is thrust into a state of mental turmoil when the love of her life is found to be the killer of her cousin, Tybalt.
