American Identity From 13 colonies to 13 states, America started taking its shape in Jamestown, Virginia 1607. Tedious factors such as, gender, class, ethic, religious and regional view help shape American identity after Revolutionary War. It explores the idea of the challenges they face within themselves and the bias that is places upon them by others. The purpose of this report is to examine the idea that the challenges that New Americans face can be eased by native-born people, which can help to benefit not only the economy, but the United States as a whole. What does it mean to be an American today? Being an American isn’t hard,but sometimes people just like to not follow things. Patriots at Heart The students rose from their seats as the speaker directed “Will you please rise for the pledge of allegiance”. They placed their right hands on their chests and recited the pledge by memory as most of their minds drifted towards upcoming due dates, tests and finals. Those who stood up straight, admired the flag, and acknowledged all who had made sacrifices in order for them to be here demonstrated patriotism for their country patiently and diligently.

Being an American can mean many different things all depending on the different perspectives of different ethnic or religious groups. So what does being an American mean to me? Being an American to means that everyone can live a happy stress free life where they don’t have to worry about being discriminated against or feeling like they don’t have equal rights. When you ask a non American “What does America mean to you?” , they will more often than not answer with hamburgers, obesity, NFL and Reality TV. That is okay because who doesn 't love hamburgers and football filled Sundays, who doesn 't love watching silly reality TV shows and who doesn 't love a cheat day every once in awhile?
