China experienced a remarkable transformation between the 1900s and the 2000s, characterized by significant political, economic, and social changes. The nation emerged from a time of internal conflict, foreign intervention, and societal fragmentation to become a global economic powerhouse with a growing middle class. This transformation was fueled by factors such as the implementation of economic reforms, technical advancements, and shifts in global politics. Over the last century, China has undergone significant societal changes, as evidenced by differences in religion, government, education, and culture.

Gender in China is similar to how most societies at the time viewed what a man and a woman should be like. In the 1900s, women were not spoken of much since they were primary caregivers for children and were in the house (Ng & Fu 2018). Throughout history, the presence of women has been undocumented for a long time and has been primarily discussed by men. It can be said that in the 1900s, women were seen less than men and were hidden. Although in the 2000s women were still experiencing hardships, they were being represented more.
