This quote explains how the morals have changed from the beginning of the book and who they keep changing throughout the book. The people in the book have morals based on their upbringing, it clear that the east egg and west egg have different morals. The West Egg has a harder up because they actually work for their money instead of it being handed down to them like old money. This connects to The Great Gatsby because it explains how everyone acts throughout the story. The main reason everyone has different attitudes when it comes to problems. Gatsby grew up dirt poor, literally, and he came from a very humble beginning. He went to college, then went to the Military during the war. He met a man and became rich, waiting for Daisy to see how he grew. Gatsby’s way of valuing money and receiving it was a bit off compared to Nick but it might be cause Gatsbys in love. Why The Great Gastby has stood the test of time: This is because not only does it introduce the lower class people to the rich side of things, but it also shows problems that weather people face on an everyday basis. For example, the insight the reader has to the life of the rich keeps people on their toes. This is because there will always be a separation of power in life leading to readers being integrated into how the other side lives. Another reason is that readers get to see that people who are held at a higher status go through the same/similar problems as themselves. This is shown throughout the book as it seems the main character fights for someone he loves and is unable to obtain them, leading to him being alone for the rest of his life. Many of the problems presented in the book people can relate too, causing the book to stay popular and relevant in any time
