Some would say that your parents always know what's best for you, but what happens when love changes all of that? In "Romeo and Juliet", Juliet chooses to go against her parents’ wishes and marry the man she truly loves, only leading her to her own death in the end. In Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Juliet", Two star-crossed lovers meet at a party. They fell in love, but their story tragically ended due to the feud between Montagues and Capulets. Juliet's rebellion against her own name is what ended their lives. Juliet knows that what she was doing was wrong, but love made her not care. For instance, Juliet states in 1.5 136-139 "My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early, seen unknown, and known too late!" Juliet knew that he was a loathed enemy, being born a Montague. However, this did not stop her. She fell in love with him regardless. Although Juliet knew between "right and wrong", she chose "wrong" anyway. It was clear that the two star-crossed lovers would not be able to last, but that did not stop them. Juliet was supposed to marry Paris, but she refused. She was already married to Romeo, and she could not go against her vows. For example, Juliet says in 3.5 116-117, "Now by Saint Peter's Church, and Peter too, he shall not make me there a joyful bride." Lady Capulet told Juliet that she was to marry Paris, and Juliet refused. Juliet's parents assumed that she was still grieving over Tybalt's death, and that she was being ungrateful. However, she was thinking about Romeo, and how she could not go against their vows. Juliet's parents thought that refusing the marriage was immature but Juliet was only staying true to her vows, making her not only very mature, but also a good
