Changing religious beliefs in the dawn of the 16th century had a profound impact on modern western culture and ideology. Religion has had a significant role in the formation of present-day political barriers, acting as the principle cause of conflict for most of written history. More specifically, Protestantism contributed to establishing the principles on which some nations are built – notably the United States. Religion can even affect economic prosperity, which can be seen in different wealth concentrations in various parts of Europe. When Martin Luther first posted his ninety-five theses bashing indulgences in 1517, it was not acceptable to hold religious events without permission from the Catholic Church. Before the restoration, everything went through the church. Rome, at the time, had huge influence on political events and was extremely wealthy. However, after Luther argued that man had the individual power to define true Christian belief, a multitude of events resulted.
