In Tennessee state history, there are two recent bills that come directly to mind. They are senate bills 1796 and 1797. These bills are better known as the Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom. The Tennessee couple was found raped and murdered in Knoxville, Tennessee. The details of the horrific events, along with the plight of the bills will follow. The couple had only been dating a few months when they decided to go out on a date the night of January 6, 2007. They had not returned to their residences by the following day which prompted their families to notify law enforcement of their disappearances. As the investigation began, a railroad worker had contacted the 911 center reporting that there was a body on the train tracks. That body was later identified as Christopher Newsom. His autopsy report revealed that he had been sodomized with objects, bound and gagged. However, her car was located off of Chipman Street in Knoxville, Tennessee. Fingerprints recovered from inside the vehicle were found to be belong to Lemaricus Davidson. A search warrant was signed and executed for the home located at 2316 Chipman Street. Upon entering the residence, the body of a white female was located in a trash can. The body was later identified as Channon Christian. According to her autopsy results, Ms. Christian was tortured for what appears to have been several hours as she was raped orally, anally and vaginally. The examiner found that bleach had been poured down her throat and on her person as an apparent attempt to destroy physical evidence (Documents relating to murders, 2009).
