In the novel Nightjohn by Gary Paulsen, many significant events occur in chapters 6, 7 and 8. To begin, Nightjohn is resting and recovering from his past punishment that took place in chapter 5, before teaching Sarny the letter h. Nightjohn then begins to plan his escape from the plantation, so he makes shoes, and eventually he gets away clean and uncaught. Sarny already knows A-J in the alphabet, and then she is forced to become a breeder, which makes her very upset. Soon after this terrible event’s Nightjohn decided to come back to the plantation to get Sarny and notify her that they would begin to go to school together.

Many times the cruel stages in history are often sugar coated and disguised to be something that they are not. While the brighter parts of history are many times untouched/unaltered. In Elie Wiesel’s novel Night, he displayes a theme of desperation and confusion. It tells the story of the Jewish race from the point of view of a teenage boy. Their family then gets split, so the sister and the mother go to one concentration camp and the brother and the dad go to another. When they arrive to the camp, they get split into different sleeping quarters. Throughout the rest of their journey, they experience hardship and torture as in having to be “Pressed tightly against one another, in effort to resist the cold,” (Wiesel 98).

On page 55 in the book Night, Elie gets whipped 25 times on his back. Elie was trying to stand u to Idek, a Nazi officer, for his rights. Idek had moved a hundred prisoners so he could lay with a girl.
