Chapter Summary: Guitar's Song Of Solomon

In chapter six of Song of Solomon we learn about Guitar’s secret murder organization named “Seven Days” where there are a total of seven people, and each one murders a white man for a specific day of the week. Whist explaining to Milkman about this group he is apart of, we learn a lot about Guitar and his seemingly crazy thoughts process on society. It is made clear in chapter six that Guitar is not one to submit to conventional thinking. We learn about his ability murder a random stranger. Though Guitar says that he is scared and does not necessarily enjoy murdering, its the fact that he still goes through with it which makes raises some flags. Unfortunately, this is not Guitars case. He attacks and kills random citizens in which he has no connection to, and duplicates a murder that had happened to a person of black decent. Even if the person being killed is random, the act is thought out and planned. Guitars racism and hate for white people has most likely been fueled since he was young boy. Within the time period, black people were discriminated against and this caused Guitar to hate white people and thinking all of them are terrible. This thought process that because whites back in the day were slave owners and cruel, that all white people during his time are completely racist and cruel towards black people. This obviously is not true as there are people who do support and help those parts of the black community. The way Guitar was raised has tainted his image of a whole race, which helps give him the ability to kill. One’s childhood is very important for developing views on society, and since kids are learning everything for the first time, they believe things that their parents teach and tell them. The process of teaching people and kids in a way where they will believe what you want them to is
