Eddie is a maintenance worker at Ruby Pier and today is his 83rd birthday. He is also a retired World War II veteran that was shot in the leg many years ago. Today he goes to work, it is completely normal day, until the cable on a ride begins to snap. Eddie yelled at the crowd the stand back, but one little girl was still standing where the cart was about to drop so Eddie lunched for her. Then everything went black and he felt two little hands on his shoulders.

Next thing he knew he was at a very empty Ruby Pier. He also felt like he was a young man again and able to run without any pain. He came across the tent with people in it, "freaks". There was a blue man in there that was the first person he would meet the heaven the lesson the Blue Man taught him was that when some die others live and it's not fair. When Eddie was eight he was throwing a baseball with his brother and it went out into the street, he chased it, Eddie ran out in front of a car that the blue man was driving, the blue man then swerved and barely missed Eddie. During World War II and his friends were kidnapped and taken to mine for coal. One night they finally escaped and lit the place on fire, Eddie lit the barn on fire and then thought he saw a little kid in the barn. He tried to rescue the little kid but his Commander then shot him in the leg and said this happens to the many War veterans and they start to hallucinate. While they were trying to escape the commander got out of the escape vehicle to unlock a fence when a bomb blew up. Since Eddie had just been shot you did not remember his comander's death.
