Then, I started heading to the other side of the island and then thought he probably expects me to go there, and it would be really easy to track me. I turned around and started making loops in my tracks to confuse him. I then went up a big tree to get some rest. I then heard something walking, and it was Zaroff. He looked up the tree, and smiled, and turned around and left.
This shows Zaroff knew somebody was going to come to his house, he already knew Rainsford, much better than expected for someone Rainsford has never met or heard of him. Zaroff explains he has hunted all big game, and he got bored with hunting normal animals. In the text he

(49) Animals cannot reason with Zaroff, so it has to be humans. Zaroff might want revenge on humans from a past experience he had with them. He lives alone on an island and hunts humans, that must mean that he does not like to be by other people. Hunting is fun for some people, until you're being hunted. “The most dangerous game” is a short story written by Richard Connell. Zaroff demonstrates that he is confident, anxious, talented. First Zaroff is a very rich individual, i know he is talented because on ( pg.221) Rainsford was describing how big and nice zaroff house was “It was a huge, beam-ceilinged bedroom with a canopied bed enough for six men that Rainsford followed the silent giant.” Another way Zaroff is very rich because he also has his own island where he hunts more than just animals.
Rainsford is initially shown to not show any empathy to the wild animals he hunts. Zaroff is no different, with him declaring, “I hunt the scum of the earth: sailors from tramp ships--lassars, blacks, Chinese, whites, mongrels,” (9). Zaroff hunts humans who have the unfortunate luck to arrive on Ship-Trap Island. Zaroff gives no second thought about hunting humans because he finds them to be the perfect sport to hunt, and finds pleasure in hunting them. This builds suspense because the reader doesn’t know yet what this “dangerous game” is, but they know it probably isn’t good. The author utilizes
This is shown when Rainsford got into Zaroff's room. Rainsford states “I’m still a beast at bay.” Then General Zaroff says “‘ I see... Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds.
Due to his wealth and power, Zaroff has no regard for any other human life. The men that he hunts are usually sailors that work the decks of ships, but it
Most people when they hear “The Most Dangerous Game” they think of bull riding or other dangerous games that don’t involve death. “The Most Dangerous Game” is a suspenseful cliff hanging story that follows the days of a castaway on the island of a crazed hunter.
