I think that when Ponyboy says " “I lie to myself all the time. But I never believe me.” He means that he always tells himself that he is not who he really is, but in the end he realizes that he is who he is and that he should not resort to lying. I think this because when he says that he lies to himself, he is trying to tell himself he is different than who he is. He want 's to be like the rest of the greasers.

“The Hero’s Journey” is term for a narrative style that was identified by scholar Joseph Campbell. The narrative pattern would depict a character’s heroic journey, and categorize the character’s experiences into three large sections: departure, which contained the hero’s call to adventure, fulfillment, which consisted of the hero’s initiation, trials, and transformation, and finally the return. The novel The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan investigates the relationship and actions of four Chinese women and their daughters. The character Lindo Jong’s youth in China exemplifies the three part heroic journey in how she leaves the familiar aspects in her life, faces trials in the home of her betrothed, ..... Departure:
In The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: Creating Currents of Electricity and Hope, the author, William Kamkwamba, used many different tools to create smooth transitions all throughout the book. There are many examples of these transitional moments… Firstly, on page 9, there were stories that William’s father passed down from generation after generation, William’s father having learned them from his grandpa. Just previously, his father had been telling the family a story. Immediately, it transitions from his dad telling a story, then to William talking about his family and how they obtained the many stories; it’s a great example of a transition from exposition to the very beginning of rising action.

Gone, But Not Forgotten Pushed away, forgotten, damned, left, desert, abandoned: every person has once felt these universal feelings of desertion. This makes it a rather popular theme choice in many songs, books, movies, and the like. In the play, Angels in America by Tony Kushner, the theme of abandonment appears almost everywhere, but it appears most prominently in the relationship between Louis and Prior. After looking at the relationship between these two characters, the song “Not About Angels” sung by Birdy looked like it largely reflected the theme of abandonment in love seen with Louis and Prior’s relationship. Louis and Prior were together for years before Louis left, a long time to develop strong emotions and connections with each

Forgiveness is the action or process of forgiving or being forgiven. (Hawkins, 1994, P. 206) My personal understanding of the parable ‘The Prodigal Son” is that it portrays the importance of reasoning and forgiveness. The main characters in the parable are two sons and a betrayed father. The father remains constant throughout the parable, although he has being betrayed by his younger son.
