Z for Zachariah is about a 16 year old girl named Ana Burden who lives in a small valley of a war-torn country. She lives believing she is the only person left alive in the world after the consequences of the nuclear war leaving only her valley safe. This is because the situation Ana and John are in was caused by a nuclear war which left the country dead apart from her small, secluded valley. This is a terrifying thought because it makes the consequences of a nuclear war more real and possible. Another reason this relates to the world is because of the way Ana had to grow up quicker than most people even though she was only 16. I thought that this was interesting because in the world today if you are the eldest child you are expected to grow up faster to look after your younger siblings or even your parents if they are sick. A final reason this was relatable was because Ana Burden was portrayed in a realistic way. She was portrayed with normal teenage girl characteristics which made her easy to relate to. Overall I enjoyed this book a lot. I enjoyed reading about the characters and understanding the plot. I think I would probably read the book again because I thought the plot was very interesting and I would have fun picking up on minor and important points that I had missed
