To Kill a Mocking Mockingbird has many great characters, but my all time favorite character is Calpurnia. She is a great character who has an important role. She has deep ties in the community, and she has some very good moments in the story that make me love her even more. She is such a different character that I just had to choose her.
In the novel, Calpurnia is described as “...All angles and bones”(Lee 6). Calpurnia was also nearsighted , and she had large hard hands. She had been working for the Finch family for a long time. On page one hundred and sixteen she says she grew up around Finch Landing, and she was always working there. Since Calpurnia has been with the family for a long time, and has been working for Atticus since he married, Atticus considers her as a part of the family. My all time favorite part of the novel that Calpurnia is in is when Calpurnia takes the children to her church. During this part Calpurnia agrees to take the children to church with her because she doesn’t trust the children to go to their church without getting in trouble because Atticus was out of town, so Jem and Scout would have been without parental supervision.
