Books express who the author is or who they want to be. They show the imagination and, sometimes, the difficulties of the author’s life. In Bad Boy, by Walter Dean Myers, the author shows the difficulties in his life and how he overcame those obstacles in the shape of a memoire. While I appreciate the truths about the world told in Bad Boy, and the uncensored quality while addressing racial issues, I am not too fond of this book. I definitely do not hate Bad

Coming from a broken home and living in a bad neighborhood, Lonnie sees that becoming a basketball player could be his escape from Harlem. Lonnie has a bad relationship with his mother to the point where he doesn't even sleep in her house sometimes. Instead he sleeps in the hotel he works at. While at the hotel one day Lonnie sees across the street that the gas station was being rob, taking this as an advantage Lonnie runs across the street and steals a case of alcohol planning to sell it.

Instead the only sense of the writer is revealed in the front-matter of the text, where in an act of almost self mutilation Wolf reveals the potential faults that infect the memoir that follows it. This socratic is exactly why this is not a book is not a reflection of Wolff or an ‘insight’ into his life, its about Jack— a boy from concrete. The subtle admission to doubt in ones own memory is what makes This Boys Life such an alluring portrayal.
Diagnostic Essay After reading the article “You Can Grow Your Brain”, it made me feel more confident in myself and encouraged me to take on new tasks in the near future. By reading this article I have learned that the more you practice or exercise at something, the better you will be at whatever it is you chose. There was a time in elementary, where I discovered how much I loved sports, however, I wasn 't very athletic. I loved watching the game of basketball, it interested me so much and was very entertaining. When recess or free time came around each school day, after lunch, some guys including my older brother would shoot baskets and play games with teams.
Should a person get paid just for showing up for there a job and not actually doing anything? Should they also get paid the same amount even if another co-worker is better at their job? Just because someone shows up and participates, doesn’t not mean they deserve the same treatment as everyone else. Some parents and athletes believe equal playing time for all sports and activities is deserved all through their middle school and high school careers. However, earning your position, being undeserving of playing time, and coaches trying to win in their respected program are all issues that need to be thought of before people begin fighting for equal playing time.
Suzy Zail’s work of the Holocaust based historical fiction, The Wrong Boy, shows us how the main character, Hanna, survived this tragic wartime due to her resilience and courage for herself and most importantly the people she loved throughout the 256 paged book. The novel portrays the struggles that each key character, inside and out of the concentration camp or ghetto, had experience in their life or even just in the time of the Holocaust. Hanna, one of the many people who were captured by the Holocaust, is definitely a survivor. Her survival strategies were not only smart but truly moving. At the very start of the novel, Hanna is a brilliant and talented young girl whose life revolves around a Piano Forte.
Forgiveness is the action or process of forgiving or being forgiven. (Hawkins, 1994, P. 206) My personal understanding of the parable ‘The Prodigal Son” is that it portrays the importance of reasoning and forgiveness. The main characters in the parable are two sons and a betrayed father. The father remains constant throughout the parable, although he has being betrayed by his younger son.
