Johnny is a hero for doing what is right not easy. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton (16 at the time) is a thrilling book about the majority of society being split up into two groups of millennial teens. The more prosperous group is the Socs who are always looking for a fight. The less fortunate group is the greasers just trying to lay low and stay in there lain but never back out of a fight. Ponyboy and Johnny decide to run away from there home and on the way face challenges that prove Johnny to be a hero. Johnny saves Ponyboy from the Socs, comes up with a disguise, and saves people including Ponyboy from a burning church. For instance Johnny saves Ponyboy’s life from Socs by scaring them away.
