The Strength of One’s Love for Their Family Legend, by Marie Lu is about two teenagers, June and Day. Both of their motives to fight harder, love longer, and remember more deeply, are driven from the paramount love they have for their families. June is determined to seek justice for her murdered brother, Metias, and Day is focused on giving his family a better life than his own. The major themes and personalities of the book are best portrayed in chapter 4 In this chapter, June’s relentless desire to get revenge for her brother’s murder is introduced through Metias’ death.
The article I chose for my current event is titled “Melissa McCarthy Doesn’t Like ‘Plus Size’ ”. The article, written by Lisa Respers France talks about actress Melissa McCarthy and her new clothing line she plans to launch this month. McCarthy talks about how she doesn’t feel that clothing for plus sized women shouldn’t be in a separate section than other women’s clothing. McCarthy’s Seven7 clothing line runs from sizes 4 through 28. McCarthy says that she’s protesting for taking away the "plus-size" label because women come in all shapes and sizes.
In Karen Russell's short story, “St. Lucy’s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves”, a pack of wolf-girls are sent to a church to transform them into human-girls. As they journey through their transformation there is a guide called, The Jesuit Handbook on Lycanthropic Culture Shock that helps the nuns running St. Lucy’s. The book describes the transformation in stages to help determine the girls’ place as a human. Claudette, the narrator, arrives at St. Lucy’s with her pack to begin their transformation. She struggles through most of the stages, but succeeds in only a couple of them.
She was being courageous because she feared that Eric would do something with the information that she gave him but she just went for it and gave him the letter even after she had the chance to change her decision. Running away is a hard thing to do especially when you want to stay put. Sarah decides she is going to runaway to keep everyone else safe but it is so hard to leave all the people that you have ever loved just to keep them safe.
Sarah ignored the fact that she could be thrown in prison if she goes. Her bond with Hetty makes her use her courage to save her friend and to stand up to her mother. The book “Forged by Fire” by Sharon M. Draper is a book with many themes and lessons we all can learn. One of the themes that this essay will talk about will be about loyalty. For one thing, loyalty is a strong feeling because it’s something that comes from inside of a person to have faith in someone. Also the fact that we’re all loyal to someone, someone who’s special in our lives and plays a major role in our lives that drags us to support them no matter what. In this book, Gerald gets abused by his drunk, ferocious father whom he absolutely abominates.
Meg Murray, is one of the main characters in "A Wrinkle in Time" who was very important in the search for her father and saving her family. When the story begins, Meg is upset and she feels like she doesn't fit in. Her teachers don't think she is very smart, her family is often involved in bad rumors which cause her to lose her temper, and when she compares herself to her twin brother and her mother she feels plain. It seems at the beginning of the novel she wishes away most of her faults, even though they are what will help her later in the novel.

Tina Fey, a well-known actress, comedian, writer and producer has written the #1 national bestseller and was nominated for AA Grammy Award with her novel, Bossypants. Throughout this novel Fey describes many major unlucky lifetime events that have led to her very successful career of many titles. She emphasizes the series of events that have developed her comical personality and well known recognition. Through these stories of her personal experiences, which are chronologically ordered, Fey creates a life theory with each one. With each idea, Fey argues many different social issues, such as our society needing to be more accepting, a stronger relationship of mothers with their children, and Americans attitude on many things.
Cutting Queen Margaret seems to not be appropriate because her main role is condemning Richard and emphasizing how Richard III continues to be the villain through out the play. There are many instances through out the play that Richard deems himself the villainous character. The audience does not seem to need any more affirmation of how manipulative Richard is. In Act I Scene I, Richard and Elizabeth began arguing because Richard accused Elizabeth and her Kinsmen of hoping that Edward will die soon. As they are arguing Queen Margaret walks into the scene where Richard and Elizabeth arguing and, out of bitterness, she decides to express her discontent.
“Blood makes you related, loyalty makes you family”-Unknown. This quote relates directly to my story “Barn Burning” by William Faulkner. Barn Burning is a story of family, loyalty, and morality and answers the question “how far does loyalty to family go?”. This story follows a boy named Sarty that is at the age where he starting to figure out what kind of person he will be in life. Sarty is a fascinating and dynamic young boy that faces a major ethical dilemma.
Family Family is a large part of The Color Purple. Alice walker says makes many points about various subjects, but her opinion on family is clear. Family is not defined by blood relation or marriage, or any traditional connection. This is very clear in The Color Purple, through the life of Celie and her journey as a person Celie is introduced as an abused child/mother of her Pa’s children.
Most people say that blood runs thicker than water, but in this book that is not the case. In The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, family is shown in an extremely unique way. Generally, when people imagine the average model family, they see a family that has money, a family that is prim and proper and usually, a family that is biologically related. Though, family in this book is based on shared hardships and having faith in each other, not by blood relation. Hans and Liesel’s relationship is a great example of trust.
