Cross dressing to fight a war that wasn’t hers, being a nurse on the front lines and a spy. Sarah Emma Edmonds Seelye may have won the war for the Union. These things are the very reason why Emma had lots of courage, she was a role model to many and someone who should be admired for fighting in what she believed. It took a lot of guts to fight a war for a different country but even more so as a female. “David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.” This simply means that God is always on your side if you are doing His will and it also means that he wants to help you succeed in accomplishing His will. Joshua 1:3-9 is another good piece of scripture representing this theme. In verse 6 and 7 it says” Be strong and courageous,because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left,that you may be successful wherever you go.” This is driving home the theme once again to be courageous so obviously it matters to God that we trust Him to help us through. It also matters to God that you obey His will and the law. Lastly Deuteronomy 31:6 states almost the exact same thing that both previous passages state. “ Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” from these passages you can clearly see that God wants us to trust Him and be brave, just like Sarah Emma Edmonds
