Silas Lapham, a character more inclined to embarrass himself with his lack of linguistic savvy than to impress his successful peers, is an example of a man with poor linguistic capital.
Stars are not born they are made through the things which make them great. Silas Merritt Robertson was made the star of the hit Duck Dynasty through his humorous stories on the show. His book Si-cology 101 by Si Robertson is a recount of some of his favorite stories which give the reader a peek behind the curtain into Si’s life before Duck Dynasty and how his life has changed since the premier of the A&E show. The book includes stories of his children, wife, and time sent in the service. This novel is great for the reader who would prefer a book with lots of comical relief in some tense situations.
I feel as though my countless hours of binge-watching science fiction TV shows has finally paid off. I am now in the position to create a team instead of cringe at the groups that do not act as a team and are unsuccessful in the mission. I now have the power to ensure that the three people have the ability to make smart, moral decisions. With that being said, I would take my father, my aunt, and the UT Chancellor’s Honors Program’s own, Joshua Dobbs. I believe each of the people I have chosen have what it takes to face new challenges, and even new planets.
“More weight,” stated by Giles Corey from, “The Crucible,” before he was pressed to death for witchcraft. Giles Corey was one of the oldest people to be killed during the Salem Witch Trials. The Salem Witch Trials was a series of events that took place in 1692, where innocent people were hung for apparently being witches. The people in the trials were tried in court and the girls who accused them would act like the person or people were sending spirits towards them to make the judges believe them. Giles Corey reminds me of myself by his sarcasm during conversations, always acting ornery, and the comical remarks he makes.
A name, in theory, is a word or phrase that helps you recall a person or thing. In practice, a name also helps one recall the person’s or thing’s reputation. In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, the characters’ decisions emphasize this quality. Not only does the name include the reputation and legacy of the people they identify, the characters’ choices and behaviors in The Crucible are motivated by the preservation of their dignity and the reputation associated with their names. By assessing the choices made, the inner personality traits of each character can be seen.
Throughout the entire book, the main character, Luke Reid, had many characteristic changes. Luke went from thief, to a nobody, to a person that cared. Starting from always being a thief is a tough place to start from. At the beginning of the book, Luke is a thief who is really good at picking locks.
He is a pathological liar. He tells Dawn that she can do anything and is a great cop but tells Jeff she’s a little girl in a cop uniform that needs to be watched over. He blackmails her into doing sexual favours with him so he will back up her account of an incident when some claimed she used too much force. He believes in backing up your group no matter what they do. He backs up William’s story and vouches for him as a reliable source.

He has many characteristics that I can relate to throughout the play. Giles Corey and I both share the characteristics of being strong-willed, stubborn, and loyal.

I welcome you to the 24th annual Queensland Literary Symposium I’d like to highlight another prominent book that has captured readers with its engaging and thrilling storyline alone with significant aspects of human society and culture The story I specifically refer to is none other but the novel Jasper Jones Written by the Australian author Craig Silvery, Jasper Jones was set in the scorching summer of Western Australia in 1965.

Times can be full of hysteria and strife, and seldom, other times. People can be unjust and ridiculing, or optimistic and caring. Many characters portrayed the same characteristics: gullible and stubborn or friendly and hardworking. Giles, for example, is an immensely enthusiastic, sarcastic, friendly, hardworking, brave, fun-loving character that you could not begin to loathe like some of the other characters resembling Abigail. He did not want to regard anything in relation to the witchcraft scheme; especially anything that correlates it to his wife, Martha, but some situations cannot be avoided.

In the foreword of the novel, It’s Kind of a Funny Story, there is a quote that reads: “But it’s so much more than a book about depression. It’s about the promise of hope, strength, and the desire to live” (Cohn 1). This quote describes the feeling of the whole novel, which is about a kid named Craig Gilner who is battling depression, but also figuring out who he desires to be. Consequently, you’ll soon detect that Craig has an unexplainable strength that he doesn’t think he has till later through his journeys through a psychiatric hospital. In this journal I will be evaluating the person that is Craig Gilner, visualizing the psychiatric hospital he sojourns in, and predicting what choice he will compose when it comes to his life.
