Character Traits In Holden Caulfield

Holden Caulfield is the main character in the novel. He is in his teenage years (16-17 years old). Holden tells his story from a mental institution in southern California. His appearance is tall and skinny with partly grey hair. His general health is poor due to alcohol and drugs which he un-responsibly consumes which has an impact on his appearance, looking out of shape.
Some traits which Holden possesses is the fact that he is depressed, confused, angry, anxious, insightful, thoughtful, kind, and has a strong sexual desire.
Holden feels bitter about adulthood because he is attracted to the negative traps which it contains such as: alcohol, drugs, sexual desires and having to be independent. This is difficult for him because he looks down …show more content…

Similarities that lie between Holden and Charlie is personality traits. They both are depressed, have anger within them, kind and caring.
They both have attended high school and are interested in women sexually. Together they share similar appearances gathering that they both tall, skinny and are males.
Given both their troubles past or present them both land up in a mental hospital needing help to guide them to a better lifestyle in the future. They both has lost the connection of loved ones. Holden lost having strong relationship bonds with his family friends and generally most people he interacts with were as Charlie lost connection with his strong relationship with his aunt. Both these troubling connections make them depressed a lonely in sense.
Holden and Charlie both analyse people. Holden judges them and lets them know that whereas Charlie just stares and analyses them keeping his thoughts to himself.
Difference that occur between the two main protagonist characters is their clothing style. Holden does not care what people think of him and how he dresses. Charlie on the other hand takes pride in what he wears and cares what people think of
