In this paper, I am going to discuss and explain my opinions on why company Q is or is not socially responsible. Company Q recently closed a couple of stores in high crime areas. Company Q also started offering very limited health conscious and organic products. The local food bank has contacted Company Q requesting day old food for donations. Company Q has declined the donation request due to possible fraud by its employees and has started throwing the food away.
Modern day businesses have to be socially responsible; actions are taken to satisfy customers who might have a cause that they care deeply. Social responsibility occurs when a person or a company acts in an ethical and sensitive way towards important social issues of the day such as economic, environmental, and cultural concerns. Many businesses have a section of their website or business literature dedicated to social responsibility. Companies proudly detail the steps they are taking to address concerns that people have with the environment and economic issues. Having companies act in a socially responsible way is necessary because their actions have a tremendous positive impact on society.

Michael Abraha Analyzing Community Social Responsibilities Target Corporations is a retailer whose operations involve offering discounted, high quality, and trending merchandise. Such merchandise is retailed at attractive prices in guest-friendly, clean, and spacious stores. The company deals with a variety of food brands such as “Archer Farms”, home collections, food, and pets’ supplies, households, home decor and furnishing, clinics, pharmacy services alongside other services. The biggest community social responsibilities of the industry include protecting the environment, promoting healthy living, promoting community education, and volunteerism.
Define by the business dictionary, Nonprofit organizations(NPO) are associations, charities, cooperatives, and other voluntary organizations formed to further cultural, educational, religious, professional, or public service objectives. A large number of nonprofits are human service organizations providing services for those who in need of mental health, housing, and other helping services. NPOs are funded by a number of different sources, According to to the National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS), “over 1 million public charity nonprofits existed in the United States in 2009, funded by $1.4 trillion in revenues from contributions, gifts, and grants (22 percent); program service revenues, including government contracts and fees (67 percent) and other sources, including dues and special event income (11 percent)” (NCCS, 2010). Although the numbers do sound nice, the financial states of most nonprofits are not doing well, funding for social services and organizations are expected to decrease. Traditional ways of fundraising have become less productive, so NPOs are now left to find different ways to fund their organizations.
To begin with, the economic model has a management style that mirrors that of market-driven businesses, aligning goals and objectives with business principles such as supply and demand (Brainard & Siplon, 2004). On the other hand, the voluntary spirit model relies on a management style that is intentionally different from product and services businesses (2004). In other words, the voluntary spirit model insists that nonprofit missions are not business-like, but instead, are centered on solving problems and nurturing relationships (2004). Next, the organizational structure for the economic model has a relatively strict hierarchy where decisions are driven from the leadership, but the voluntary spirit model’s structure relies on collaboration among members to collectively determine goals and objectives (2004). Lastly, since the economic model is business-like, the incentives for staff appeal to self-serving needs, which means the incentives are often materialistic or monetary (2004).
Organizational Analysis Regarding Social Justice Though working toward social justice is the pinnacle of the mission of social workers, not every organization employing social workers has social justice as its first priority. Luckily, many organizations that employ social workers in Richmond, Virginia value social justice as a major piece of their purposes. Non-Profit Organizations have been around for a long time. Now you might ask yourself “what is a Non-Profit organization? ' Simple really, it 's a foundation exempt from paying taxes, in which also, serves the public 's interest. Some well-known non-profitable organizations are No More Tears, Women in Distress, and Victim Response Inc. otherwise known as the lodge. However, these three organizations deal with domestic violence.
Non-profit sector is very different from both the public and private sectors. It is a tax-exempt organization or social sector which is mainly formed for the purpose of education, religious, art, animal right or charitable (Hatten, 1997). Popular examples for the non-profit organization are World Wildlife Fund, Do Something, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Green Peace and Malaysia Red Crescent Society. The ownership of the non-profit organizations does not belong to anyone, even the founder of organization, which is very different from other form of business.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY As we defined above that social responsibility is to protect and enhance well-being of living things. Every organization is socially responsible to protect the environment and they can do there much which is legally required for the organizations. The very first social responsibility of every business is that to earn enough profit to meet his expenses. If the firm cannot earn profit no social need and social responsibility can be met by the firm the firm fails.
Social responsibility of business has been a debated topic for years. The ideas of different businessmen have had effects on the direction of business in this period. This essay analyses two texts, which have Milton Friedman’s arguments about social responsibility of business and John Friedman’s ideas about Milton Friedman’s, by comparison and contrast method and includes this writer’s evaluation. Milton Friedman’s text is about the effects of the name of social responsibility on a private property system including executives, stockholders, employees and customers. He gives us some assumptions and examples of their potential results and impacts on corporations to express his ideas clearly.

Social and civic responsibility should be an automatic thing that should come to people’s minds when trying to improve society.
