Why Is Company Q Socially Responsible

In this paper, I am going to discuss and explain my opinions on why company Q is or is not socially responsible. Company Q recently closed a couple of stores in high crime areas. Company Q also started offering very limited health conscious and organic products. The local food bank has contacted Company Q requesting day old food for donations. Company Q has declined the donation request due to possible fraud by its employees and has started throwing the food away. Company Q closed a couple of their stores in high crime areas. The donation of day old food would help support and feed the community that is in need. Company Q has declined the food bank's request to give day old food to the needy in the community. I believe that company Q is not being socially responsible in this aspect. Company Q has decided not to give day old food to the local food bank to help the community in need. I place confidence in the fact that if Company Q were to give day old food to the local food bank, there could be so many benefits. The community would benefit by the assistance of day old food feeding those in need and the company would also benefit from the charity it was providing to the community. Company Q has not placed any blame and accusations on any one set of employee due to its lack of investigating in concern in more detail. This is the reason why Company Q does not want to give to the local food bank. Company Q suspects that their employees are committing fraud, but they have no proof of this happening. I have the impression that company Q is being socially irresponsible by not investigating this concern in more detail, because Company Q only harbors suspicion that the employees are committing fraud, this is hurting the local community and depriving the food bank of much needed food donations. Company Q should investigate the employee and or monitor the employees more closely to find out if their suspicions of fraud is in fact justified or not justified. If fraud is happening within Company Q then I would suggest the termination of the employee(s) that are committing the fraudulent activity. I would also highly recommend that company Q choose a specific set of individuals to oversee the donations to the local food bank. I would also suggest doing inventory on what is being donated and when creating a sheet that has all the inventory numbers on it for company Q's records, as well as a second sheet for the local food bank to sign off on showing what was picked up for donation.
