“Half a league, half a league!” Many people in the world today know of a poem that starts with these very few, yet monumental words, this poem is called “The Charge of the Light Brigade.” Although many people may know the poem, some do not actually know the story behind it, or the great danger the soldiers had to face. In fact, many believe they were foolish, but others believe they were the definition of bravery. The soldiers were brave because they were the last hope, they set an example to the world of what true bravery is, and they reminded everyone of what soldier’s risk, and why they deserve so much respect. There were 600 soldiers, as they say, a “half of a league” and they were called “the Light Brigade” because of the fact that there were so few of them. The definition of honor, is someone who deserves the upmost respect from everyone because of what they have done. It is someone who other people regard with great respect, it is the highest point of respect anyone can give to someone. Now, how does one receive such great respect? Well, it starts with courage, or bravery, and as the The Blindside showed, many “hope for courage, and try for honor.” When people face situations, they can have fear, happiness, and even sadness, but for most situations many hope for courage to help them get through it. An example of hoping for courage, and trying for honor would be in the case of a tragedy. In that tragedy one may face their fears and risk something, possibly even their life, and no matter the outcome many will regard them with the highest of respect, or honor. Examples of everyday people who have honor would be fire fighters, policemen, and soldiers. They deserve the highest respect because of what they have risked. Honor, is respect of the highest form, and that is exactly what every soldier deserves for the risks they have to go through every
