History class to many falls as a just another boring lesson, memorizing facts you will never use. The year America got it’s independence, the dates of the end of World War 1 and 2- all forgotten by the time you graduate. These facts may seem useless, but behind each one, their is a story with so many valiant people, a story with people who must be forever condemned, and facts that we can always use. In the book, Chasing Lincoln’s Killer, written by James L. Swanson, there is one such story about the death of Abraham Lincoln and the manhunt that followed. What is really important about this story is that the attackers of this night always be condemned, as well as to note the amazing effort of our country coming together with tips.
As made evident in Todd Olson’s article “Into the Poison Sky”, inventor Garrett Morgan saved millions of lives with his inventions. Born in Paris, Kentucky, Morgan moved to Ohio as a teen to help support his family and for better opportunities for himself. Morgan possesses the qualities described in Mackenzie Carro and Alessandra Potenza’s article”6 Qualities of a successful Inventor”. Of those six, the three that contributed the most to Morgan’s success were his desire to solve problems, his insatiable curiosity, and his resilience. One trait that Morgan has is problem solving.

In the novel, A Lesson Before Dying, by Ernest J. Gaines, the protagonist, Jefferson discovers that he could change as a whole person and finally become a man, even under difficult circumstances. He is constantly discriminated and does not feel welcomed to the society. Throughout the majority of the novel, Jefferson believes he is his own stereotype and takes it to heart when he is being called a hog. Although he knows he will be exiled, Jefferson and his family hopes for a change in his heart.
The Real Lincoln by Thomas D’Lorenzo is retelling the story of America’s sixteenth president, Abraham Lincoln. D’Lorenzo however is taking an unconventional and controversial route by attacking President Abraham Lincoln’s presidency and political agenda overall. This concept is a struggle for most Americans because of the overwhelming positivity that people have about President Abraham Lincoln’s legacy of ending slavery and reuniting a divided country. However there are two sides to every story and D’Lorenzo does just that, causing him to take on risque theories that are explored in this book.

According to a debate in Taking Sides written by Larry Madaras and James SoRelle they presented an argument between Phillip Shaw Paludan and Melvin E. Bradford debating if Abraham Lincoln was America’s Greatest President. Many people agreed and disagreed whether or not President Lincoln was the greatest; however the sides of two professors were part in the Taking Sides issue of yes or no.
As Booth began his bold escape, the fate of Abraham Lincoln was unknown. According to “Abraham,” Charles Leale heard the pistol fire and Mary’s scream, so the twenty-three year old doctor sprinted towards the wounded President . When Leale reached Lincoln, the young doctor saw the physical condition of the President. “He found the president slumped in his chair, paralyzed and struggling to breath” (History.com). “Assassination” states that the doctor reacted quickly by ripping the President’s shirt open for a physical examination, but Leale could not find the bullet wound.
