Jimmy Hoffa’s full name was James Riddle Hoffa. Jimmy Hoffa was born in Brazil, Indiana on February 14, 1913. Hoffa moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1924 when he was about eleven. After his father who was a popular coal miner passed away when Hoffa was only seven years old. Little did he know he was gonna call Michigan home for the rest of his life.

At the age of 15, Guzmán started a marijuana farm along with his cousins in an effort to support his family financially. However, by his 20s, Guzmán decided to pursue different opportunities other than working in poppy fields for the remainder of his life like most people living near his family.

Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio. His mother was a single, 16-year-old alcoholic and prostitute. At a young age, Charles’ mother wanted nothing to do with him, so he lived on the streets which is where his life of crime began. For the first 32 years of his life, Manson was in jail for half of them. He had a wife and child, but they left him after he resumed stealing cars.
Cesar Chavez History Day Project One Mexican American farm worker dedicated his days to better the lives of his people, his name was Cesar Chavez. Horrendous treatment of farmworkers caused Chavez to take a stand for what he believed in, for no one should be treated poorly because of race or social class. During Chavez’s life, he organized peaceful protests, boycotts, as well as participated in a historic 36 day "Fast for life". Chavez not only changed the working rights for farm workers but subsequently gave dignity to the working class of America. The legacy that Cesar Chavez left behind was that he became the most important leader of the Latino people in the United States, and he founded the still standing United Farmworkers of America.

Cesar Chavez began reading about other nonviolent changes that impacted the world such as the civil rights movement and African Americans suffering from segregation. Researching about other nonviolent changes inspired Chavez to accomplish a social change. As stated in many books Chavez admired Gandhi because of the nonviolent ideas he incorporated in order to defeat the British Empire. Although Chavez did not have the opportunity to meet Gandhi in person he decided to incorporate some of his Gandhian Principals especially the idea of fasting.
Chavez was an inspirational speaker and that is why there is also more Mexican Americans register to vote. Chavez organized many marches and boycotts to help farm workers. He also started strikes and boycotts against the Grape Farms and won. He affected the progress of civil rights so much that there was a funeral for him. It was the largest funeral of any labor leader in the history of the United States.

Castro is an undeniably controversial figure in the United States. For decades the American media had portrayed him as a malevolent communist dictator. By doing the readings and watching the documentary I now know the main reason why America has vilified him, Fidel has managed to defy the United States and put an end to its imperialist expansion in Cuba. My thesis is that despite the United States being a superpower, Cuba undoubtedly managed to end US imperialist expansion and interference in Cuban affairs. Cuba has managed to govern itself as an egalitarian society.

Francisco was elected president of Mexico in 1911 in during the revolution. Venustiano Carranza was one of the main leader of the Mexican Revolution. Emiliano Zapata was the leading figure in the revolution.
Desmond Tutu Desmond Tutu was born on October 7, 1931. He was most commonly known as a South African social rights activist and retired Anglican bishop who became famous worldwide during the 1980s as an opponent of the apartheid ("Desmond Tutu Biography"). Desmond Tutu is a perfect example of an effective leader. There are many qualities that all effective leaders must possess such as, communication skills, passion, vision, and commitment. Desmond Tutu is the most effective leader because he was passionate, hardworking, and devoted to making a change in the world.
Charlie Chaplin started from the lowest of lows, but he believed in himself thus making him one of the most famous people in history. Chaplin started off having a bad childhood, but then he realized that he had to provide for himself even if that meant working at such a young age. People believed that he was going in two different directions when it came to political views. He made it big all because a man saw the hope and commitment into his eyes. He knew that Chaplin could make it happen and make it big and he did.
