Cherie Canada Limited is a fully owned subsidiary of International Cherie Company of New York and manages the marketing of four distinct lines of fragrance and cosmetics in Canada. A general manager manages each of the four lines. Another important office worth mentioning here is the Operations Office which is run by Bob Shaw. Dennis Green manages the purchasing office under Bob. One of the lines it markets – Elegante – was just introduced to the Canadian market a year after its launch in the United States in 1996. The year is 1997, and Heather King is given the role of general manager Elegante Division (Cherie Canada Ltd.). It has been four years now since we launched and we are still struggling. The height of this problem was marked by Mr. Greens attack on me at the previous MOPS meeting. The core problem is poor communication between our offices which has culminated to some of the following issues: a) A shipment that was destined for Holt Renfrew was shipped to the wrong place – The Bay, Vancouver. b) Another shipment of eye pencils, zipper bags for cosmetics and makeup brushes was misplaced in warehousing an incident that lost us sales. c) Poor communication with shipment and warehousing causing confusion of new and old formula, creams and lotions. This caused us problems with a client. d) Production department producing products with loose caps, without all components and poorly glued. e) A 3-month delay by to service tester units by Purchasing. f) Inaccessibility of Mr. Green and Ms.
