Another thing that is important to note the importance of immigration patterns on which groups were targeted by racist individuals occurred at different time periods. The Catholics were viewed negatively during the founding of the country, but were virtually ignored when there was an influx in immigration of Eastern Europeans and Asians. The minorities in the United States were viewed as nuisances that needed to removed.

Once Anglo-Saxons immigrated into the British Colonies, many colonists hoped to gain wealth and send raw materials back to England through mercantilism, but most “gentlemen” refused to do work for themselves. The puritans, for example, considered themselves to be god’s chosen ones, so they exploited natives and soon slaves from the Atlantic slave trade. The goal of my paper is to address the question of how Americans subjugated and harassed Native Americans leading to their removal and exclusion from American society. I will answer the question by analyzing five periods time periods, where their mistreatment worsens over time.

Michaels has expressed his knowledge and beliefs that there is a great deal of diversity among human beings. Unfortunately, diversity has been defined by the average Americans as racism verses economic stability. In the article, “The Trouble with Diversity: How We Learned to Love Identity and Ignore Inequality,” Walter Benn Michaels’ skillful presentation of his logos overshadows his less successful portrayal of pathos and ethos concerning the idea of love for identity. However, Michaels has impeccable logos in the article with his references on the idea of love for identity, but does not express his ethos and pathos as fluent.
The Europeans were notorious for invading foreign lands and finding the natives inferior to their ways, usual because the natives weren’t living like the Europeans. The Native Americans were no exception, the Europeans once found the natives tractable and peaceful. However, they knew little about the natives and took their peaceful nature as weakness. Furthermore, the Europeans thought the natives were inferior was because of their way of life, their religion and the color of their skin. The Europeans cared little about the Native American way of life, they only cared about exploiting the resources of the Natives home; this meant both natural and human.
Several hundred years ago, European settlers stepped foot upon Native American land composed of indigenous societies. Instead of making a compromise, the Indians thus became colonized by the Europeans. As a result, land was stripped from the natives, new religions were imposed, and certain cultures became adopted. Furthermore, the adoption of language, diverse race and ethnic groups, and populations were developed.
Cultural Diversity is not something all countries have come to terms with. Some cities are more diverse and culturally rich more than others. I believe the one important factor of being an adult is to know how other cultures may be different from you own. In my opinion knowing what other cultures are like gives individuals and groups the ability to make sound decisions. Cultural diversity is something I love about living in the United States.
After reading and learning about diversity management, which originated in the United States, I now have a new understanding and view on its importance not only for the company to strive, but also the employees. Diversity management is a strategy of using best practices to support multiple lifestyles and personal characteristics while providing support from various cultural, racial, geographic, economic, societal and political backgrounds while incorporating that into the business at all levels of the company.
