1. History of the company/brand
Chick-Fil-A is a family owned quick-service chicken restaurant chain based in the U.S., headquartered in the Atlanta district of College Park, Georgia. Chick-fil-A provides nutritious and freshly prepared chicken sandwich and related products alongside with various wraps, burgers and breakfast items. Chick-fil-A is most famous for its signature chicken sandwich, which was invented by Truett Cathy, the founder of the chain and also the inventor of boneless chicken sandwich. After experimenting for years, he created the perfect chicken sandwich recipe in 1964. The restaurant chain’s name is adapted from “chicken fillet”, with the capital “A” meaning “grade A top quality”. Since he founded the corporation in Hapeville, Cathy has made the decision to close on Sundays to provide a rest time for employees, a tradition that the company holds until today.

During 1970s and 1980s, the chain expanded by opening new franchise in food courts at malls in suburban area. The first free standing-alone restaurant was opened in 1986 outside of the mall food court on North Druid Hills Road. Since then the company focuses more on developing stand-alone restaurant. In 2006, Chick-fil-A sales surpass $2 billion, marking the family-owned business as a billion-dollar brand. In 2015, the company opens the 5,000-square-foot restaurant in NYC, which is the largest Chick-fil-A’s free-standing restaurant in the country. As of June 2017, Chick-fil-A operates restaurants under various concepts including mall or in-line, stand-alone, drive-thru only, Dwarf House and Truett’s Grill restaurants alongside operating licensed, non-traditional outlets and satellite lunch
