Once I finished reading “Chief Seattle’s Speech of 1854,” a lot of his quotes engulfed me into deep thought. The main quote that is appealing to me is, “My words are like stars that never set.” In other words, his words are like the stars that never change. This quote was most appealing to me because since he is speaking the truth his words will never change, although he spoke many words each stood on its own, and he thought and meant every word deeply. First, his words were like the stars that would never change because he spoke the truth. I believe when one is speaking the truth his words will never change. Even though they can survive without each other, the words depend on each other because every word he used was so strong it had value and the truth behind it. Although he stated many words each had its own reasoning and force. This is why I believe he also chose to state this quote. He believed they were like the night stars because although there was a vast majority of his words, each word has its own shine and value. Last, this quote really stood out to me due to the amount of thought and emotion he placed into every word he spoke. Honestly when a person chooses to speak the truth and really thinks about the words regardless of what others might think about them, then just like Chief Seattle, his words will stand strong, firm, and be remembered for a long time. The truth is strong and there is only one truth. Chief Seattle knew that this speech would be an outcome for his people so he had to have put an immense amount of time into them.
