Title: Memories
Memories are a curious thing. They make us who we are. Without them we aren’t us. They are engrain in who we are as human beings.Memories can be a great source of joy and love. They can make us smile they can also make us cry. We often share our most precious memories with our relatives and friends, but sometimes memories especially our childhood memories can become tricky to recall .We remember things a certain way and another person that was also part of the memory can remember things differently. A traumatic event can cause our brains to change the way we remember events. That one the main in Kingston story “China Men”. I believe that Kingston wants her audience to try to understand how can a traumatic event like domestic abuse can affect a person's memories.

Because they were the victims of domestic abuse. Kingston recollections of the events are quite different from the ones her sister remember. According to Kingston “ My sister claims that same memory. Neither of us has the recollection of curling up inside that room, weather behind the pounding door or under the bed or in the close (Kingston). Domestic abuse is a really complicated subject that in my opinion isn’t talk about enough. Is really painful for the victims to talk about these events especially children. So many kids try to avoid the subject as much as possible. These events are often so traumatic that kids suppress the memory of the event itself to try to cope with the painful past.Kingston with her short story wants the reader to understand how domestic abuse had an impact in the memories of her and possibly her sister
