Chipotle opened its first casual fast food restaurant in Denver restaurant in 1993, Chipotle Mexican Grill was founded by Steve Ells who at the time was a graduate at culinary Institute of America. Chipotle Mexican Grill offers a menu of a variety of food items which mostly are burritos and tacos, Chipotle is located in many parts of the world, not only is Chipotle doing business in the US, but also in Canada and UK, how Chipotle does and runs its business is slightly different from what customers are used to and expect regular fast food restaurants. Chipotle major expenses are mainly packaging, food, beverage, labor and other operating costs, Chipotle is said to use higher quality ingredients from a few suppliers they hand picked that’s why it does somehow increase Chipotle expenses than other restaurants, they also have operating costs such as rent and property taxes. On the other hand, since Rubio’s became public in 1999, the company have generated 11.3 million. As any business Rubio’s have same operating costs and expenses, major expenses for Rubio’s apart from administration cost are food, labor, and beverages expenses, according to Rubio’s website the company has issued a statement that by the end of the year 2017 it will remove all coloring and artificial flavors from its food and start using only natural ingredients, the change in one way or another it will increase Rubio’s food expenses. Rubio’s was ranked 14th place on the top 100 casual restaurants, while Chipotle was ranked 65 by consumer report of over 32,400 subscribers. Chipotle as May of 2016 have 59,330 employees with sales up to 4.5 Billion. Rubio’s Coastal Grill, on the other hand, have 4000 employees with revenue of 188.9 million.
